I think (good or bad) Google wanted to be able to control the Android end-product or atleast saw that as a benefit. I think the business schools will be analyzing this current environment over the coming years and will determine that Google got too cute with the acquisition of Motorola...
did goog make an unnecessarily high bid for motorola [why would apple want to buy mot handset business]....just so apple would be able buyout idc for a low price?....what kind of strategy is that?....the shoot your load early so your main competitor can swoop down and snap up the real prize cheaply strategy?....or is it?....the im so smart i can even outsmart myself strategy??
