clo, the truth is often depressing. When I started to work, almost everyone WANTED to work. Over the years I watched the change occur. The 'entitlement generation' came along and things really went down hill. Most of it because of the government getting involved. Let me give you one little example; AT&T.

Back before deregulation the government TOLD AT&T how much money it could earn by setting the percent of profit it could earn. To get a bigger profit, total number of dollars earned, it had to have more income AND MORE EXPENSES. Employees were hired so that AT&T could raise it rates. Then along came 'equal employment'. Minorities were hired to meet government quotas. Unproductive employees were not fired IF they were minorities. They were promoted to jobs that did not require productivity. I saw it over and over.

DG,

I've read your posts over the years & I've got to say they tend to be depressing.

Sure I've worked with some irresponsible folks, but they don't usually last. Working for private companies, the government didn't dictate who they hired.
Lots of folks want to do their best, knowing that helps keep them employed.

I'm sorry your experiences tainted you.
There really are some wonderful people, glad I've run into many. clo
