In Ohio, you can go to a licensed firearms dealer and purchase a legal gun at the store. You will fill out a federal form and the store will have you wait a few minutes while they call it in and get you cleared that you do not have a former felony on your record or anything barring you from being a gun owner.
After that, you can buy whatever your heart desires.
WHEN transporting home, keep the weapon locked up in a glove box, preferably the trunk, and any AMMO you may buy put it in the glove box LOCKED up and NOT with the weapon. That is how you transport it legally.
Call a store like Cabellas or Target World or DICKS Sporting Goods and ask. They will be happy to assist you.
