Two things we know of happened Mid July

1)IDCC announced July 19 that its Board of Directors had "initiated a process to explore and evaluate potential strategic alternatives for the company".

2)Google and Motorola started talking mid july(according to a news report I read yesterday)

What if Goog did indeed make a bid for IDCC but was shut out by another co and they then decided enter serious talks with motorola? The deal google struck with motorola smacks a little of desparation to me. It seems an odd fit to me how the two companies will "mesh" plus that 2.5 billion penalty google would pay, vs the much lower penalty motorola pays, seems to suggest motorola was in the drivers seat during negotiations.
