Police in Boston, Massachusetts have taken a suspect into custody after responding to a two-family home for reports of a person shot and a suspect barricaded inside.
Officers responded to the shooting Wednesday morning on Ledgemere Road in the city's Brighton neighborhood.
The male victim was taken to a hospital via ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead. He was in his 70s.
Neighbors say this is a typically quiet area and that the man who died, whose name has not yet been released, is a victim of senseless violence.
Neighbors say the victim was a gentle soul who will be sorely missed, someone who was good to everyone.
The shooting suspect barricaded himself and shot at Boston police officers, but there were no injuries.
A tense standoff ended after the police called in SWAT and hostage negotiators who were able to talk the suspect out of the building after an hour where he surrendered to officers.
The suspect had a gun license
