Beldin:

Thanks for the response. I don't believe you have correctly identified those you call 'elitists". Keep working on it.

There certainly are a lot of "Wall Street" players who are in bed with politicians, scratching each other's backs so they get fat to the detriment of the country, as a whole. But, then again, KTC, what did ya expect, eh? The presumed "elite," who believe themselves to be everyone else's betters ... whether in politics, law, or business ... are predominantly trained up to be undeservedly arrogant, self-serving bastards by the culture of the Ivy League schools. These "elitists," who are quite often intellectually eclipsed by the working people from "flyover country" whom they disdain, believe in the consolidation of power, which is why the federal government has been grown to become such a massive behemoth that has intruded itself so significantly into the everyday lives of all American citizens. It is much easier to pull levers your way and keep it hidden within the huge, confusing, out-of-control machine that is the current federal government ... and the supposedly well-intentioned social spending by this federal monster is useful to them, as well, in that certain segments of society can be bought off by and become addicted to the baubles and beads, paid for by funds confiscated from other segments of society, that are thrown their way. Of course, the dirty lil' secret in all of this is that the people on the receiving end of this government dole are giving up their self-respect and destroying their lives ... and often their community, as well ... in exchange for an addiction to easy money taken from the pockets of productive members of society. Problem is, the "elitists" are playing these folks for chumps ... acting like drug pushers by hooking them ... habituating them ... on easy money that actually doesn't amount to a whole lot on an individual basis in exchange for their political support that keeps the "elitists" in power. And while the "elitists" are instituting and reinforcing this destructive relationship, the "elitists" are singing a fraudulent siren's song of "how much they care about the little people" and "how anyone who may object to this destructive fraud of theirs is just a hateful, greedy asshole."

Government spending is THE major aspect of the problem, KTC, but you are correct in stating that it is not the only aspect. The massive, out-of-control monster of a federal government that has been so easily manipulated to benefit the "elitists" who ride comfortably on its shoulders also needs to be dismantled. The states can successfully handle the bulk of the issues that occur within their respective borders without interference from the federal government. The federal government needs to constitutionally limit itself to broader issues like maintaining a strong military to defend the whole country, maintaining relations with foreign countries, maintain and defend our borders, and resolving disputes between or among various states and let the states deal with educational, agricultural, environmental, energy, labor, housing, transportation, and social services issues. This is what ever-increasing numbers of everyday Americans, of which the Tea Party is emblematic, want to happen ... and in a hurry!
