Hi ff,

Hey, if a BP type of deal comes in, then I won't move down from my 7. I don't know that a BP deal is on the way, myself. I count them when they arrive - as speculation is not my bag where we all know the reliability of the source of the "DD".

But my scale's about velocity rather than single deals. My 8 was sustained by a sense that Wave had a product that was well-received and was most likely at the beginning of a growth curve that was arcing northwards. So I was looking for the company to prove things via a display of increased news frequency.

An individual news release or even speculation about one doesn't change things here. It's too late for that. Even presuming a BP sale, the frequency of one deal every five or six months isn't worth an 8, to me. One per quarter on average would be, slow as that seems relative to the scale of the problem. That was the minimum I was looking for to sustain my optimism.

It seems more sensible to assume these deals are going to remain few and far between for the moment. I'm guessing the one after the next one may take four or five months to arrive as well. That's not a rate of progress to create excitement.

If the company produced two deals this quarter, I'd go back up to 8, as that would make me think the velocity was accelerating in a significant way after all.

If a single piece of news occurs and the price goes up, I'll be happy. But the optimismometer won't be affected. And of course, many folks who are trading in on the rumour will sell off on the news, thinking their money will be idle for many moons afterwards. And more than likely, they will be right.
