When I worked in California, many, many years ago, I happened on a nude beach. I never saw so many ugly people in one spot.

Just a suggestion, but ... how about we extend an invitation to Hillary Clinton for her to sunbathe in the nude at this beach, eh? It should have instantaneous results ... all of the civilians would run hysterically screaming from the beach to the nearest insane asylum and the new Marines would be exposed to one of the worst frights that could be inflicted upon them. I mean ... if those Marines could survive THAT, they can pretty much survive anything, don'tcha know! B.

Marines are trying to stop bathers using an amphibious assault training ground in San Diego as a nudist beach.

The strip of sand at Gold Beach has becoming popular with sun seekers wanting to bare all after state park rangers cracked down on naked bathing at nearby sand spots.

But the Marine Corps said it does not want civilians, naked or clothed, on the beach that it uses to train recruits in amphibious assault.

The rise in people shedding their inhibitions at the military training ground, which is part of Camp Pendleton, has come as rangers have begun ticketing nudists on neighbouring beaches.

Two years ago a court ruled that the state had the authority to ban naked sunbathing at a nudist favourite called Trail 6.

Those wanting to strip off have ventured south in a bid to avoid the park rangers.

A Marine spokesman said: 'Civilians without Department of Defense authorisation may not cross onto the Camp Pendleton side of the beach, regardless of their beach use intention.'

He told the LA Times that the Marine Corps was allowing the state park rangers to cross onto Gold Beach to tell beachgoers they are trespassing.

The military also does periodic patrols, the spokesman said.

Some nudists have claimed that rangers have been hiding behind bushes and spying on them with binoculars and camera while they have been on the military beach.

John Squicciarini of San Clemente said a friend had his camera taken by a Marine who was apparently working with park rangers.

'The state park rangers are creating their own problem,' he told the LA Times. 'It's very childish.' [Hold on just one damn minute, here, Squicciarini ... or Squidsucker ... or whatever your name is ... it was your friend who had the camera, not the park rangers. So ... just exactly what was your friend doing with that camera, eh?! Sounds to me like they had good reason to take your friend's camera away from him. Besides, it isn't the park rangers who are creating the problem ... it, in fact, is being created by nude sunbathers who are knowingly breaking the law, you doofus. Rolling Eyes B.]
