the House passed a bill to raise the debt ceiling, 269 to 161. The deal, which includes a $2.4 trillion deficit reduction package, came together among congressional leaders and the White House on Sunday evening. The bill now heads to the Senate, where it is expected to get a vote Tuesday.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was the victim of an assassination attempt in January, returned to Washington for the vote. She voted yes.
