Beldin, as for GE, I would suspect that a large part of their tax forgiveness came from all these windmills I have sitting around me. I wish I knew how much the government gave them for each windmill. I suspect it is in the neighborhood of 100k per windmill. You know, we have to go green. There are about 5,000 windmills within a 70 mile radias. That would be close to half a billion in just this area. While we have many of the windmills here, there are many more being put up.

BTW, about 20 years ago I looked into buying a windmill to power my trailer. I ran the numbers and figured it would pay for itself in about 15 years. Then I found out the average life expectancy was 8 to 10 years.

DG,

The problem in America is that we have too many leftist stooges who literally cannot think their way out of a wet paper sack ... they can throw an emotional temper tantrum inside of it ... but they're too willfully stupid to ever work their way out to see the light of reality.

Mindless, leftist drones like clo take ignorant pot shots at American oil companies for two reasons ... (1) they monosyllabically regurgitate the Marxist pablum their political leaders spoon-feed them, and (2) if they think at all, their thought patterns are decidedly one-dimensional - as in regard to American oil companies, all they can see are the amounts of gross revenue that they earn. clo is supposed to be a 62-year-old woman ... it would be quite helpful to her well-being if she were to someday start to even remotely approach the level of intellectual comprehension that most twelve-year-olds possess and recognize that these same American oil companies spend billions and billions of dollars to produce such gross revenues. In the end, their annual profit margins are about 6%, on which they pay billions of dollars in income taxes to the federal government, each year. That doesn't even contemplate the $100 billion dollars in rents, royalties and lease payments for production access that the U.S. oil and natural gas industry has paid to the federal government since the year 2000.

Now, as for Obama's buddies at General Electric ... G.E. reported worldwide 2010 profits of $14.2 billion - $5.1 billion of profits from U.S. operations ... and what amount of U.S. income taxes did it pay on these profits? None ... zero ... nada. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion in 2010. I'm sure the bulk of these tax benefits came from past losses ... and this is no different from the American oil companies taking their lawful deductions, too ... but it's funny don't ya think ... you don't hear clo foaming and frothing at the mouth about Obama's buddies at G.E. being tax scofflaws and vultures, now do ya?! Yeah ... the thoughtless hypocrisy is absolutely amazing, isn't it? Laughing Laughing Laughing
