I'm kind of surprised that we've come to Friday with no resolution.

I may have underestimated how adverse many Representatives are to applying for yet another credit card ... at least while public scrutiny is high. The TP is apparently a lot more influential than it is often given credit for being.

So, it is looking more likely -- although hardly yet a lock -- that we will see "The End of the World!" (tm) August 2. I will spend the rest of the weekend finishing digging my bomb shelter in the back yard and outfitting it with beer, popcorn, and a TV.

I have come to realize that men are not born to be free. Liberty is a need felt by a small class of people whom nature has endowed with nobler minds than the mass of men. -Napoleon

clo,

I think if Boehner's bill passes, it is a victory for the Democrats. After all, it won't pass the Senate, but it can be TWEAKED by Reid until it is indistinguishable from his bill, passed, then bounced back to the House with almost no time left. Boehner then either gets the Republicans to go along, or THEY wind up looking like the uncooperative ones.

If, however, the House now balks, then Obama will undoubteldy bypass Congress and continue paying the nation's obligations in a clearly UnConstitutional fashion - further sealing his fate as a single term LOSER.

Failure by the Republicans to pass Boehner's bill won't make Boehner look like much of a leader, that's true. But it WILL strengthen the Republicans' position even more in 2012.

Let's just hope the Congressional Republicans are intelligent enough to figure that out.

BTW, I remind you again that whatever problems Boehner has had getting his bill through the House... he's still had VASTLY more success than Reid has had with his in the Senate.

I should think that if Boehner fails, we'll see BOTH "leaders" bawling their eyes out.
