quicken -- your view is idiotic -- the actual question is: would you expect things to change the day your creditors became aware you'd just up and decided to stop paying your bills?

no need to argue further right now; I won't, in any event -- we'll see soon enough about your idiotic "no immediate effect" if the debt ceiling isn't raised in time

My view on this is would you expect things to change the day you raised the limit on your credit card? The answer is no. Barring the the media and political drama, there will be no immediate effect. Only the long term effect of the continual erosion of our worth and our children's future and freedoms.
