Frum, IMO has been an honest broker lately.
I totally agree with this point, and most of his article.
5. Obama is not a good negotiator.

Last night Chris Matthews suggested Obama should appoint Bill Clinton as Treasury Sec'y & I think that is brilliant!
Most Americans remember the Clinton years fondly (economically) & he would give Americans a sense of stability & hope with regard to the economy.
Plus, Clinton is a problem solver & has a wonderful ability to bring folks together, for the good of the country. clo

The article is above. All the comments which follow are mine:

Clinton actually adapted to having his health plan rejected and, then, his Congressional advantage turned on its head. He won reelection and continued to govern effectively (whatever that means but, at least, it means he could compromise and not offend people who disagreed with him). Obama has shown himself INCAPABLE of adapting. For that reason alone it is clear that IF Obama is reelected the four years thereafter will be like Groundhog day stuck in July 2011. Therefore, De is correct: Obama WON'T be elected.

Obama doesn't know how to negotiate -- he is grossly incompetent in this regard.

BTW, I was hoping to link another article which gets into WHY Boehmer isn't interested in doing any more "compromising" with Obama, but I lost the link (I think it was the Washington Post). According to the story, Boehmer had compromised to with Obama to the point of agreeing to a 0.8 trillion tax increase and they were apparently down to final details. If you remember the period when this was going on, you know the press was reporting that Boehmer was agreeing to a tax increase ...and he was already catching hell. But he was negotiating anyway. THEN Obama got wind of the "Gang of Six" proposal -- which even Clo admits is a slimy, horrible plan -- which carried much higher tax increases (1.8T or so). So...what did Obama do? He apparently walked in the next morning and told Boehmer bluntly that circumstances had changed; he had a better opportunity; and he would accept nothing less than a $1.2 trillion tax increase; take it or leave it. THAT IS WHEN BOEHMER WALKED OUT.

Regardless of any "he said / she said" it is clear that Boehmer was proceeding to negotiate and had put in a lot of effort and, per all the press of the time, Boehmer was caving on the "no tax increase" bottom line. Boehmer's current position appears to be one of disgust ... he was apparently dealing in good faith with a guy who doesn't know the meaning of good faith.

I'm sure those who worship at the feet of Obama will have some other story but there is nothing in Obama's record which indicates his word means ANYTHING to him. Indeed, there are copious examples upon examples of Obama promising all manner of things, saying all manner of things ... which he later reneged upon. Anyone who would negotiate with this ... whatever he is, but he is not a man ... needs either a lot of ignorance or a very low self esteem.

But, really, NONE of this matters.

What matters is Obama CAN'T bring the sides together and so Obama MUST go ... will go. And I expect a lot of Dems will come to that conclusion before the election. This guy has been a disappointment all the way around -- except to Goldman Sachs, of course. Obama can't lead compromise so he MUST, and will, go. Too bad he can't go gracefully before the election without putting his party and the nation through the needless travail of all those empty teleprompter speeches (Why doesn't he just get a text to speech program and lip sync?). That would, at least, give the Dems an opportunity to perhaps field someone who has more credibility, skill, and respect. Hillary would look good here but, unfortunately, I don't think Obama has the class to gracefully step aside. No...I think his ego needs the thrill of leading his party ALL the way down the toilet.
