Well, I guess I know why I am not President. When I was very young we lived in a house with a wood burning stove to cook the meals. My mother and father both worked because my grandmother lived with us and had no income. What little money she had, she lost when the bank that had it folded. Granny cooked and cleaned and watched over us kids so that Mom could earn the extra income needed to pay the bills.
When I was in elementary school we raised chickens so that we would have eggs and an occasional chicken dinner. (BTW, I still do not care for chicken. Ever see what they eat?) Most of our meals were beans, cornbread, and black-eyed peas. We might have grape jelly or peach pies if we found some wild plants.
But I guess we were just white trash. We did not have any slaves and I don’t think any of my ancestors did either. Maybe if I had been a slave...
