Michelle Obama's senior year thesis at Princeton University, obtained from the campaign by Politico, shows a document written by a young woman grappling with a society in which a black Princeton alumnus might only be allowed to remain "on the periphery.

Yes. It was a typical pander to the "I'm Black therefore I deserve special treatment/affirmative action etc".
WHat Michelle Robinson forgot to mention in her thesis was that she came from an upper middle class home (her father Frazier Robinson, an engineer with Chicago Water, had been earning at least US$42600 from the late 1960's (about US$150000 today) to his retirement in the 1990's. The Robinsons lived in a spacious 4 bedroom apartment on North Euclid Avenue in Chicago, an area of Arts and Crafts Houses, wide streets, lawns and shady trees. Michelle and her brother Craig went to a special 'magnet' school for bright (usually middle class) kids and took music lessons, sports, and vacations for granted. Mrs. Robinson did not work and the family enjoyed lively dinner conversations around home cooked meals.
Michelle Obama graduated *** laude--a thesis student is expected to graduate magna c.l. Her law boards were good but not outstanding so the race card was played again to get a place at Harvard Law School.
After Harvard, Michelle joined a white shoe firm in Chicago and practiced lucrative intellectual property law. She did the bare minimum of pro bono work required by the firm (and only for clients brought in by the Democratic bosses of Chicago's South Side who were instrumental in her husband's rise to power--note Barack Obama also worked for the same law firm, his brief stint as a community organizer was for 8 months before he went to Harvard Law).
Michelle Obama was never 'working class' or 'poor'. She was just not as rich as she feels entitled to be!
