There is an old saw . . . . All Things in Moderation

Unions . . have a place. Without unions (or suitable
governmental regulations) un-principled corporations
would, eventually, reduce their labor forces to the
equivalent of slavery.

Taxes . . Taxes are the means by which government
raises the money to provide for the common good -
Defense, roads, fire fighters, etc. etc.

Overly strong unions are just as bad as unprincipled
corporate executives - - when the unions are too
strong we wind up with corporate profits being
misappropriated - by union officials. I.E. Union officials who
haven't the faintest idea how to run a profitable
business living the high life at the expense of the
corporations and the workers.

On taxes - there is an optimum level of taxation. A
level at which the best level of governmental service
can be provided - without squelching the economy.
Raise taxes above this level, and businesses find
themselves without capital to expand. Raise them
more and the profit margin disappears and businesses
go out of business.

Right now?

Well, we got auto makers unions forcing the auto
makers to pay folks for not working . . . Clearly
an abuse of the 'system'. Auto unions need to be
hammered.

Taxes? For far tooooo long we've had a welfare state
siphoning value from the rest of the country. Funded
not just with our taxes, but with debt foisted upon
our descendents. Another excess which needs to be
hammered.
