re: "One woman bought something like 98 bottles of vitamins, that's lunacy!"
Uh... I hate to admit it, but . . . guilty!
As part of my stockpiling, I bought a *lot* of vitamins and medicines - mostly acquired for a song five years ago when a local Rite Aid was closing its doors. I'm sure the potency of many of them is reduced.
The problem is, stockpiled food loses its nutritional value over time. It has to be supplemented, and I saw stockpiled vitamins as a 'better than nothing' solution. Fresh vegetable oils are a better answer, but since I don't yet live in New Hampshire, I'm not in a position to start growing such things. (I'm thinking that Sunflowers are a quick and easy way to produce and store vegetable oil.)
So if my vitamins keep me at a high level of preparedness UNTIL I am able to grow my own, then I guess they're serving their purpose as INSURANCE - even if they never get used.
BTW, I'm leaving for New Hampshire tomorrow. I have an appointment Thursday morning to look at another large tract of land. Actually, this tract is huge by almost anyone's standards. If it is accessible from a decent road, I expect to buy it. (So that means I probably won't buy it. Inaccessibility is the only explanation I can imagine for why it is so cheap.)

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
