The problem with 'tempory' taxes is that they are never tempory. In the mid 90's Texas passed a six month, tempory gas tax. We still have it. Did you hear about the federal tax the phone company collected that was finally ended a couple of years ago? It was helping to pay for the Spanish-American War. Once the government gets it foot in the door...

Did you know that welfare was started to help folks get back on their feet? It was going to help them for three months until they could get back to work and pay their bills. We now have folks who grew up on welfare and have never held a regular job. Why work for food when you can get it for free?

The American people don’t need higher taxes and the deadening hand of Big Government dragging on their shoulders as they deal with one of the biggest financial crises in US history. They do, however, want greater freedom to generate wealth, create jobs and ensure the United States remains the beacon of liberty and prosperity it has been for more than 230 years. One can imagine what the great historian and author of Democracy in America, Alexis de Tocqueville, would make of the Obama presidency if he were alive today. One thing’s for sure – his impressions wouldn’t be flattering.

Personally? I think if 'We The People' truly
believed the government was going to do the right
things - pay down the debt, act responsibly, stop
corruption and theft . . . we would go for a short
term tax increase to get U.S. out of the hole.

But, obama and friends are NOT going to get U.S.
out of the hole - they are just going to dig it
deeper.
