It was too hot for much funny stuff. There was a lot of bickering... a lot of sweating... a lot of very pungent young men.
One bit of humor came in Tuesday night's flag lowering ceremony - when our troop won the daily 'best camp' award as judged by reservation officials who'd ranked every site on its cleanliness, safety, organization and camp improvements. After proclaiming us the winners at this very solemn affair amd giving us the Sacred Oar as a trophy, they said they had some other announcements - at which point our autistic kid launched into a loud and boisterous rendition of the "Announcements!" song and couldn't be shut up by the rest of our troop despite their shouting a unified "Noooo!!!!!" . . . and subsequent attempts to gag him.
