They are singing the baseless "default" chorus as loudly as Obama at this point. That doesn't' surprise me that much -- it's basically the SAME party, with the same inner circle, now as during Bushwacker's gang-rape days.
There are more than a couple of new faces that are holding out and talking about reality (starting with the fact that "default" is the wrong word as default applies only to contractual debt obligations and there is ZERO reason for there to be any default). But I will be surprised if the few people of conscience are able to hold out against the gang.
This is another TARP thingie and I expect the Repubs to roll over before Aug 3 in a grand accommodation and the extend and pretend / kick the can to continue on. Or try to. Although I think the plot is wearing very thin and fewer and fewer are applauding in the audience.
At that point, how do markets act? I think trends of the last month need to unwind a bit. The dollar has gotten stronger recently ... does it retrace? Does gold go down? De?? What are your guesses??
