OCU,

IMO, Obama wanted seniors to put some pressure on their representatives. clo

Clo,

Over on The Drudge Report they're running a headline that Obama's fundraising efforts have been a failure.

They're also running a headline claiming "Obama's threatening to hold-up Social Security checks" implying that he's blackmailing the Republicans if they don't agree to this terms on the debt deal, which when you actually read the article it's linked to is completely false. He was asked by CBS's Scott Pelley that if there was a government shut-down that of course people on Social Security would continue to get their checks. And Obama's response was, "I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it." This is a long way from "THREATENING TO HOLD-UP SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS".
