what is frandly. Personally, signing up front three years back made a lot of sense because of discounts and the leverage IDCC would have had over nokia -- IF IT HAD WON. However today, as EVERY COURT IN THE US AND EUROPE has thrown nokia a bone...at the expense of IDCC. Why would ANYONE sign before the CAFC makes a decision?
Honestly, if you are LG, and you are reviewing 3 year deals where a few basis points is worth tens of millions of dollars, wouldn't you wait and see what the courts decide is the FMV of the IP???? I would.
And finally, what's the risk in waiting??? What can IDCC do -- sue them, take them to the ITC??? What a joke the entire legal system has become.
I realize I am getting snarky, but the courts have paid nokia time and time again to keep this fight going. IDCC has the goods, but the courts have yet to agree. Therefore, if I were LG -- or any IP user, I'd tell uncle billy to stop calling until he is ready to give me the deal of the century or have legal precident which demonstrates his property is worth renting.
