clo, I haven't researched this but I expect you have it right...I have no illusions about what most Republicans are really about.

Removing deductions IS raising taxes; any attempt to say otherwise is sophistry. Would you say it wouldn't be a tax increase if, say, the personal DEDUCTIONS were all removed ... including the dependent DEDUCTIONS?

I get your point; do you get mine? Obama increased spending 1.5 T ... now it is time to reduce spending to balance that out. Wouldn't you agree that is also fair? Or are only spending INCREASES fair??

The country is bankrupt Clo. You obviously don't yet grok that but I suggest you start working hard on it before it really starts working on you and yours.

Obama is suggesting corporate loopholes to be cut.
That's a far cry to raising taxes.
In 2013 he wants the GWB tax cuts for the top tier to expire. The REPUBLICANS voted for them to expire in 10 years! That was the only way they could get them passed.

Hell, how do you fight 2 wars & pass Medicare prescription plus WITHOUT PAYING FOR THEM??
And then years later whine about runnaway spending???
They make me SICK!
