Only a month after the election, a massive Illinois corruption scandal has exploded, claiming the governor, and Obama’s good friend Rod Blagojevich. Even the Clintons were able to move their furniture into the White House before they started wheeling and dealing and firing the White House travel office people to replace them with cronies.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, “President-elect Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, refused to take questions from reporters this morning about whether he was the Obama ‘advisor’ named in the criminal complaint against Gov. Rod Blagojevich. The complaint states Blagojevich wanted a promise of a high-level appointment or some other reward for Blagojevich in exchange for Blagojevich naming Obama’s friend Valerie Jarrett to replace him in the U.S. Senate.”
Jesse Jackson Jr. was hoping to get Obama’s old Senate seat with some sources claiming that he was bidder #5. The prosecutor investigating the massive web of Illinois corruption, Patrick Fitzgerald, was forced to wrap up his investigation and announce the charges against the governor this month because there was a strong chance of Obama firing him in January, and stopping all those investigations of corruption involving Obama’s close friends.
