...twice in the past republicans have agreed to tax increases on the promise of spending cuts by democrats. Once under Reagan and the cuts never came. Once under bush 41 and the cuts never came. Lets have the cuts first, then we can talk about tax increases if we still need em.

Boehner has already come out and claims that this latest jobs report means that under absolutely no conditions will he allow a single dime in new taxes to be included in any debt ceiling agreement. From his point of view, the Republican have NO need to compromise even 1%. That it's now up to the Dems to accept a 100% compromise on their part or he'll shut down the government so as to teach them a lesson. I wouldn't be surprised if he and Cantor came back with a demand to actually CUT taxes on the rich and on corporations (not that that has ever been shown to produce any jobs) .
