Clo,

I need for you to explain precisely why you say/think "A "balanced budget amendment" is a sham & a waste of time."

Getting STATES to go along, as De said, would be EASY. The states lose and lose and lose some more under the current system and don't you think they know that?

The House would be easy, too, I think, as it is Republican controlled now (I don't know the exact numbers, though, I confess).

So saying NO MORE DEFICIT SPENDING in Fed government is "a sham & a waste of time" because OBAMA and Democratic Senators don't like it?

Will they like any better being forced to the wall on Aug 2 -- when 30% of the Federal government will go on indefinite leave without pay???

You may think there isn't any possibility that some of the new Senators and Representatives take their mandate that seriously ... but I suspect you are mistaken.

Personally, I would be MORE than happy if 30% of the government was summarily put on indefinite leave without pay. What is the Kleptocracy going to do? Will they roll up the highways and put them away until the hostage American people are put on the hook for another few trillion? Did you see the piece I posted a few days ago about the FARCE of "security" TSA has been providing? We can do without it quite well...let the airlines run their own security; they'll do a much better job, I expect.

Anyway, you made a couple specific complaints. "Farce" and "waste of time"? Please explain why it is a silly "show" and why forcing the Senate to put an amendment out to the states OR NOT GET ANY MORE DEBT MONEY is a "waste of time"? We know one thing for sure: passing a debt ceiling increase without some longer term planning is a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY.

P.S. As I have been pointing out for some time now, your earlier concern that no debt ceiling increase would produce a "default" on US borrowing was COMPLETELY a falsehood. How do you, personally, feel about "your" President LYING TO YOU AND ATTEMPTING TO MANIPULATE YOU THROUGH HIS FALSEHOOD? If we do get a "default" it will be 100% by Obama's choosing..good luck to Obama at that point. I think he will need it.

So...I think a better claim can be made that SOME Democrats refusing to give in on sending a balanced budget Amendment to the states for a vote would be a "sham" ... and political, at least, suicide.

I have come to realize that men are not born to be free. Liberty is a need felt by a small class of people whom nature has endowed with nobler minds than the mass of men. -Napoleon

A "balanced budget amendment" is a sham & a waste of time.
They would need 2/3rds of support from the House & Senate, then 3/4s from the states.

These critters can't get support for anything, let alone an "amendment". clo
