I love the quote in this article by a staffer from one of these new 'tea bagger' congressmen who are now trying to claim they're cutting spending as they promised they would as long as they're allowed to keep their own pet programs fully funded and moving forward. As the staffer said, when looking at projects in your home district, you have to keep in mind that "There’s a difference between smart federal spending and the reckless, irresponsible waste of tax dollars...". The staffer never gives an example of something which would be a "...reckless, irresponsible waste of tax dollars..." but I suspect that if pushed, it would be anything being proposed by a Democrat:
