I agree with you regarding Logitech products. Have a very nice web cam sitting right here.
I have owned several of the Inland keyboards myself and am in fact using one at the moment. I have not had the misfortune you have had. Not a bad one in the bunch.
For the price, to me, they are hard to beat.
As to USB superiority, I am going to have to disagree with you on that.
Ever have to reinstall/repair your XP operating system from a boot cd?
Your USB board won't do that. DOing a FRESH INSTALL of a brand new operating system on a new hard drive ina new system is also something I do quite a bit of.
Same holds true there.
Now then, once the drivers are installed for USB and the operating system is actually booted up you have no problems. Then a USB board is fine.
The PS2 keyboard is hot swappable. Not a lot of people are aware of that.
As to a PS2 port going out, yeah, it can and does happen on RARE occasions to some people.
It is mostly caused by someone who doesn't have their computer connected to a good Uninterruptible Power Supply with over and under voltage protections and/or a good surge protector.
Sure, if a surge or a bit of static electricity nails your computer one of the first things hit is the motherboard and sometimes the PS2 port but of the whole board is shot, and you can tell because it will not boot up at all, there isn't anything you can do about it anyway.
Now, don't misunderstand me. Logitech is a superior quality board and YOU will pay more for it and the name.
I have owned many of them. However I have since learned that I get the same life out of a far less expensive board and it works just fine as a basic keyboard.
The choice of PS2 versus USB is up to the individual, but every time I build a new pc for someone, I am required to use the PS2 port because the USB drivers are not present but PS2 is in the BIOS.
Makes a difference.
Let's not forget wireless keyboards are a rage today as well.
Folks can get a decent one of those too at the microcenter.
Always compare pricing between microcenter, NewEgg, SuperBiz, and 3bTech.et and you can keep yourself buying at excellent prices.

Just some good info to know.
Additional desktop and laptop memory I always buy at NewEgg, SuperBiz, or microcenter, but 90 percent comes from NewEgg.
I don;t disagree with you that a $3.99 keyboard from Inland is not the same as a Logitech board or that you may have had some problems. I personally don;t know anyone I have bought those keyboards for that have experienced what you have nor myself.
