A marble mouse has a ball that you move with your finger to move the pointer on screen. Since I use it on the arm of the chair, a regular mouse does not work well.
I don't know what a marble mouse looks like. I'd throw out the cats (I'm not a cat person, but visiting them is ok), but maybe you ought to consider one of those wireless ones.
