Clo, good assessment. They sure do run cool.

I don't know about the footprint. Yes, saves power plants and that is be very significant. But is it creating a mercury cleanup nightmare? Will it permanently contaminate the water supply? In a light, who cares, in your body, it makes a big difference. Could it be the mercury in silver in teeth that are causing dementia? If so, huge dollars and impact on many lives. Not worth the price if that's what will happen, imo.

Those are just thoughts, it would take some study to see if it's all valid or not.

Mostly new bulbs here & my electric use is less & bill is lower.
I don't have problems reading under them, have a floor lamp that holds 3 bulbs, usually only need to light one.

They are MUCH cooler, a blessing this time of year.
I don't have A/C, use ceiling & floor fans when needed.

Any little bit I can do to leave a smaller footprint on Mother Earth the better. clo
