Vancouver BC is the only place I've ever been where a restaurant made it clear that my family was unwelcome because of our skin color. They singled me out in line, and asked if I wanted something TO GO. I guess I was shocked by the question, because I didn't take the hint. I stupidly said we would eat inside . . . at which point they said "No. This isn't for you. You leave now."
