That was an excellent point regarding the LOCATION of the nuclear Plant in Japan being on the ring of fire as well as the statistic that 90 percent of the earthquakes come from said ring.
And you are right also in that it did indeed require a tsunami to knock this plant down and bring it and lots of people to a perilous predicament.
I think that nuclear plants are very safe, yet, IF something disastrous does happen, then the possible consequences to human life are multiplied greatly versus with a more traditional electrical generating facility.
Do you remember a wavoid named Bill Marini from Raging Bull?
He and I are friends. He is a nuclear engineer and is a consultant on these very nuclear power plants.
Nice person and pretty smart too. Anyway, what I was going to say was that what I have expounded above is in agreement of his experience also.
Don't misunderstand what I am saying please. I am in favor of nuclear power. I am in favor of the safe storage of spent nuclear rods.
I don't trust the government as far as I can see them.
I see the possible much greater devastation using nuclear versus more traditional HYDRO and coal powered plants.
The question of do we need ALL is the one that remains a topic of debate and likely always will.
I just think you made two great points about Fukashima and wanted to let you know.
