Magellan Poll: Romney Leaves Foes in Dust in NH
Friday, 17 Jun 2011 02:32 PM

By Dan Weil

Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is the front-runner in the GOP presidential race for a reason. A new poll from Magellan Strategies for the NH Journal shows him leading among Republican voters with 42 percent of the vote, and his declared and potential competitors are far behind.

Reps. Ron Paul of Texas and Michele Bachmann of Minnesota tied for second at 10 percent. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was next with 7 percent, followed by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani with 6 percent and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty with 5 percent.

As for the rest of the field, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich received 4 percent support, businessman Herm Cain and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman 3 percent, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum 2 percent

Why does the press do this? The headline says Bachman places. The truth is that Bachman AND Paul placed.

Now I'm dying to find the actual numbers. Why do I suddenly have this feeling that Paul probably edged out Bachman and the reporter decided to "skew" things a little??

A Magellan poll commissioned by the website NH Journal shows Mitt Romney taking 42 percent of the vote in New Hampshire, with his nearest rivals — Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann — tied at 10 percent each. The rest of the field is in single digits.
