"government subsidies" & who really gets the "cream" VS the public's choices.

As for "God", its all in the eye of the beholder, lord knows He doesn't need anymore PR.
Fire & brimstone abounds, if you want to talk about scare tactics ~;~ clo

Federal funding of public radio and television seems to be comparatively small potatoes in the larger budget picture.

This year, for example, congressional appropriations for CPB, the primary channel through which tax dollars are funneled to PBS television and NPR, amounted to $422 million.

0: Number of Republicans Who Voted To Cut Taxpayer Subsidies for Big Oil

Posted on March 1, 2011 by Karina

Democrats are committed to fiscal responsibility and to ensuring that government lives within its means. With Big Oil raking in record profits, House Democrats offered a Motion to Recommit to the House Republican short-term spending bill this afternoon making a responsible cut to the budget: putting an end to taxpayer-funded subsidies to large oil companies.

Repealing these subsidies would save taxpayers tens of billions over the next decade and even ex-Shell CEO John Hofmeister agrees saying “with high oil prices, such subsidies are not necessary.”

Rep. William Keating (D-MA) offered the motion on the House floor saying “let’s stop sending taxpayers’ money to the most profitable companies in the world”:

Thomson Reuters-NPR Health Poll Finds Most Americans Support Government Insurance Subsidies for Birth Control Pills

The poll finds that 77 percent of respondents believe private insurance should cover most or all cost of oral contraceptives, and 74 percent believe government-subsidized insurance plans should cover birth control pills.

Additionally, 78 percent said they believe the federal government should subsidize birth control and other family planning services, excluding abortion, at government-funded clinics for low-income women. Complete survey results are available here: http://www.factsforhealthcare.com/pressroom/NPR_report_OralContraceptives.pdf

About the "Pacifica Radio Network."

This is PUBLIC RADIO, and the headline story on its website is that Congress is considering reducing its funding and supporters need to fight. Poor babies know that they can't possibly make it on their own in the big, mean, COMPETITIVE world.

By all means, we have to protect Pacifica and other public radio stations so they can continue scaring us with stories about the basement fire at the evil nuclear power plant in Nebraska. More importantly, "The times require a national network, and the outcome of bankruptcy hearings will not be five progressive stations running their own affairs, but more likely two commercial stations and three new Christian radio channels."

God forbid! - though I mean that figuratively, of course, since "progressives" don't actually care about God. If government subsidies go away, progressive radio might be replace with three new Christian radio channels!

A fate worse than death, eh liberals???
