How many of you remember when, in the early 70's, the socialist progressives (DEMOCRATS) WERE ADAMANT WE FACED GLOBAL *COOLING*???? In case you don't remember, I kid you not. The fear was that we were going to enter an ice age and, in particular, jet contrails and CFCs destroying the ozone were the reason.

In particular, I remember this because we had a French teacher who regularly took time from class to tell us that we needed to stop the SST planes (the Super Sonic Transport) monster planes which would fly in the upper atmosphere and could make the cross Atlantic trip between Europe and the US in only four hours!

Well, they environmentalists WON. The SSTs were stopped with odious new regulations and I think only one manufacturer (European) completed their plane. (Remember when, eventually, it crashed?)

But I do wonder sometimes why it takes so long to cross the Atlantic.

And I DO wonder why nobody brings up the massive "cooling" effect of the SSTs and takes the next step of PROPOSING WE STOP GLOBAL WARMING BY DUSTING OFF THOSE SST DESIGNS AND PUTTING THOSE PLANES INTO SERVICE.

Isn't that odd? The environmental / Pigman-Gore consortium have been sure of a cure for global "warming" all along and haven't said a word!

I have come to realize that men are not born to be free. Liberty is a need felt by a small class of people whom nature has endowed with nobler minds than the mass of men. -Napoleon

What anyone with half a brain already knew. But, for those of you still clinging tenaciously to the 'Global Warming' stupidity...

Solar forecast hints at a big chill

The latest long-range space forecast predicts a prolonged drop in solar activity after the next peak — and scientists say that might cool down temperatures here on Earth, or at least slow down the warming trend a bit.

Scientists have studied sunspots and the sun's 11-year activity cycle for 400 years, and they're getting increasingly savvy about spotting the harbingers of "space weather" years in advance, just as meteorologists can figure out what's coming after the next storm.

Storms from the sun are expected to build to a peak in 2013 or so, but after that, the long-range indicators are pointing to an extended period of low activity — or even hibernation.

"This is important because the solar cycle causes space weather ... and may contribute to climate change," Frank Hill, associate director of the National Solar Observatory's Solar Synoptic Network, told journalists today.
