LET'S CLEAR THE AIR ABOUT CONGRESSMAN WEINER

By Brian Enright

I don't condone Congressman Anthony Weiner's behavior in any way. Do I
think it was cheating on his wife? Yes. Do I think it was immature?
Yes. Do I think it was a character flaw? Yes. Would I ever vote for a
person who had a character flaw? Yes, because there might be hardly
anyone else to vote for. Just like I would vote for Thomas Jefferson,
FDR, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, President Eisenhower, and many others
who had affairs, or did other immature things.

Do I think that a man who cheats on his wife will be a man who cheats
his country? Possibly, but in many cases I don't believe that to be
true. Republican President Eisenhower was a great General who led the
WWII Allied forces in saving the world from Hitler and his killing
machine. He was also a good President and--based on what I have learned
about him--a good man, despite having had a mistress. I also greatly
admired and respected FDR for saving the country from a huge depression
in which people suffered greatly--despite his having had an affair.
FDR, overall, was a great President, though he made what I believe to
have been a horrible decision to--without any notice-- herd innocent
Japanese citizens into internment camps, making many of them lose their
businesses.
