Snapits> I have said often and will say again...
with LOW discout brokers available, these
plans make very little sense. The (few)
benefits are outweighed by the drawbacks.

Mr Snapits,
I think, for my purposes, they make decent sense.
If the plan is 'fee free' for purchases - they make
for a very good way to invest, say, $100 or $200 a
month.

With a discount brokerage, the act of rapid trading
becomes all too easy . . . but because of the delay
in making things happen with a D.S.P. such rabid
buying and selling is greatly discouraged.

Yeah, if one is a decent stock picker - able to pick
the highs and lows to buy low and sell high a discount
brokerage would be far superior to D.S.P.s . . .
but I have no delusions as to my 'stock picking
ability'.

So, for me, Direct Stock Plans . . buy more every now
and then . . enjoy the deividend checks . . and,
surprise surprise, counting the dividends I have
several holdings worth (to me) over double what I
paid for them.

Zim.
