Zim, about ten to fifteen years ago a drywall plant near here added the equipment to generate electricity with the same heat it used to dry out the wall boards. Then the power company would not buy the excess electricity so they shut it down.

Snapits> GLAD to hear that German will close
down ALL of their nukes within a time-line.

Snapits,
I have to wonder what Germany will do for
electricity . . .

There was an article a couple few years ago now,
about how Germany was becoming a world leader in
new solar power installations. And that they had
achieved it by mandating that if a body installed
a 'solar power system' and had extra watts the
utilities HAD to buy them - at a small premium
above the prevailing rates.

(And that is a plan I
could go with - if an investor can turn a profit
AFTER building the system we can pay a SMALL amount
more. The current 'scam' about we pay more and
pray the turds in D.C. can build 'green' energy
sucks.)

What I would like to read about is power companies
working with schools to install solar cells and
inverters on the roofs of schools to make the watts.
With the schools getting part of the power free in
exchange for allowing the utilities the right to
install and maintain the systems. (Instead of tying
up valuable real estate just to mount solar cells,
use rooftops of existing facilities. Grocery stores
might make good solar power plants too.)

Decentralize our power production . . . if a city
can make a fair amount of the watts it needs to
power its air conditioning needs . . we won't need
as many high tension lines to carry power around.

Zim.
