DGP, Linda Re: Secure Computing
There is presently a HUGE market space that has been evolving for the past 20 years which has actual STANDARDS and a Standards body that consists of over 250 of the foremost security and computer companies.
It is called the Trusted Computing Group.
Their are several levels of secured computing that make networked computer groups virtually impossible to be hacked, across all platforms (types and brands)and can managed very easily by systems administrators.
If you look at Intel for instance, you will notice a technology called V-Pro 2 which comes with the latest Sandy Bridge cores. INtel bought McAfee several months ago for 9 Billion and the hardened in silicon technologies of V-Pro can be unleashed using McAfee management software and some other specific management software that was written for Intel.
The NSA of the Federal government has been studying this for years now and approving various members of this group as they have been looking for this solution to be applied across the DoD as well as the Federal Agencies and Military.
Security will be in SILICON rather software.
There are things called TPM's which can be utilized to store the PKI keys encrypted inside the hardened TPM silicon chip.
This is a BIG emerging sector and several huge players. Its still being developed, including securing the endpoints like mobile smart phones, netbooks, laptops, desktops.
Dell, HP, Intel, IBM, and a host of others are all members of the TCG and are currently selling secured products to enterprises that are capapble of keeping out the bad guys.
I have been following this for over 13 years now and watch it every day.
Just thought you would like to know the technology already exists. It is a matter of application.
