Elizabeth Warren is a Harvard professor who has exposed the dishonest, exploitive financial industry for years.
To make a long story short, Ms. Warren is on the side of the people. President Barack Obama deprived Republicans of a chance to delay her appointment as head of the newly created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau by appointing her as an adviser instead.
The Dodd-Frank law created a strong Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) charged with educating the public about financial products and regulating those products. It has broad powers, even though it is housed under the Treasury Department.
Republicans are doing everything possible to interfere with the operation of the CFPB and Ms. Warren.

Elizabeth Warren Is Not 'Making This Up'
By DAVID WEIDNER
...
We're seeing this across Washington these days. Laws passed by Congress when it was controlled by Democrats just don't count: the new health-care law, Medicare, financial reform, to name just a few.
Of course, Republicans, including Rep. Patrick McHenry (R - NC), most of whom depend on Wall Street contributions and lobbying to preserve their power, can't stand those laws. Mr. McHenry's most dependable donors include the American Bankers Association, Bank of America Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co.... (end quote)
There are plenty of YouTube segments with Elizabeth Warren, including yesterday's conflict.
Republicans are running a bait-and-switch operation.
Their main incentive, like any politician, is to get re-elected.
They get their money from corporate/ banking interests whose main goal is to remove any control on their activities, even if it's only teaching people to understand the financial traps laid before their feet.
They get their votes from the mass of voters who are being harmed by their policies. How do they get people to vote against their own material self-interest? Using "values" issues, which the financial interests don't care about at all.
