What, you think it's right because everyone else does it too?
Socialism has crept into the rental market in a big way - from the regulation of how a landlord chooses his tenants, to how he can get them out, to how he can collect damages, to how much rent he can charge.
Believe me, the business of being a landlord is brutal and should NOT be entered into casually, especially with todays' (and tomorrow's) predatory government.
Thanks to government, it isn't even worth being a landlord in many states, except perhaps on a very large scale - where the landlord has his own handymen, attorneys, etc.
Is there any other "private" property where government has seen fit to so thoroughly invade the owners' rights???
BTW, you *do* understand where all this ultimately leads, don't you? Government-managed housing, ridiculously high rents and/or slumlords. I'm sure glad that I won't be a tenant for too much longer.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
