Decomp,

When you come down to it, Even Mom & Pop stores (if there are any left) depend on governemnt, state & or federal.
Consider the roads built & tended to, snow plowing, fire & police depts, etc, need funding from the state & federal government.

You'd be hard pressed to find "purest" business.

I know in NY, if you have rentals, (home, apts, rooms)you can NOT discriminate.
You can say, no pets, children, smoking, etc, but can't discriminate, race, sex, religion.
(maybe, politics ;)) clo

clo,

Businesses that take taxpayer monies DO have an obligation to treat every citizen fairly. I wouldn't change that. But if they are independent of government, their right to operate... to extend their "fist" howsoever they choose without interacting with another person's face... must be protected.

Who are you, or I, or the government, to judge the private behavior and decision-making process of another person or business?

Privacy matters. As corrupt as government officials keep showing themselves to be, they need to by and large BUTT OUT.
