I don't see it as black & white as you do.

After all TARP saved "companies", companies that made BAD business decisions.
Many "wealthy" people made a lot more, on the taxpayers "dime"!
"Government" stepped in to help companies from going bankrupt, for the good of the whole. Their goal, to avoid a depression.
This tact will be debated for generations.

As for the 3,000 "popular" families, even if they get help, if they default, again, the bank ends up the "winner", reclaiming the home.
"Banks" NEVER do something for nothing, especially these days.

Don't fret for the "wealthy", they are making money hand over fist!
And their future looks very rosy, read this.
