Let me see. Texas is forcing pregnant women who want an abortion to submit themselves to (a) a sonogram, and (b) a lecture.

This will create three new costs -- first, the extensive bureaucracy to administer and enforce the law, investigate cases of failure to comply -- which you now the open carry Christians will pursue ruthlessly -- and finally prosecution of the women and doctors.

Second, needless medical procedures. Third, a waste of the doctor's time and resources -- the law requires an extra visit for a sonogram and a 24 hour wait before allowing someone to proceed.

And the doctors have to deliver a lecture, and force the woman to listen -- again, a poor use of the doctor's time, and the time of the staff and nurses required to support the doc.

Somehow, this will drive up my cost of insurance. A completely unnecessary medical test, plus the infliction of distress and outrage on the patients who unwillingly have to put up with this invasion of their privacy and imposition of political views on the doctor-patient relationship.

Too bad Texas and the Republican Party do not respect privacy, the doctor-patient relationship, or the right of people not to have their lives invaded by government seeking pure political promulgation of radical extremist dieas.

And watch -- these SOBs, as they always do -- will refuse to pay for imposing their religious beliefs on the rest of us.

I suspect the whole thing will be thrown out of court, except that this is Texas, whose top court is so to the right of Stalin that they regularly get rebuked by SCOTUS for ignoring the rights of ordinary citizens.

I also wonder if the Statists who run Texas will allow the doctors to use their own words, or will they have to follow scripts? Will the speeches have to be recorded to prove that they occurred, or will the state require a witness be present to verify that the speech was given and that the woman was properly impacted?

Orwell would be amazed, thinking this kind of stuff stopped after the fall of the Soviet Union.
