Commentary: Certain sectors tend to stand out as a bull dies

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (MarketWatch) — Bad news, investors:
The stock market sectors that typically shine during the last months of a bull market are doing quite well these days, thank you. And at least some of the sectors that typically do poorly in such months are struggling.
That at least is the conclusion that emerges from a recent analysis by Ned Davis Research, the quantitative research firm. The study, entitled “Leading Sectors For Calling Bull Market Peaks,” was conducted by Lance Stonecypher, senior sector strategist for the firm, and Chay Norbom, a research analyst for the firm.
