That's a positive way to view it.

I fear it's just another American scientific sector going down the toilet due to lack of funds that have been squandered. We, at MIT, BBN, and Cambridge Research, had much participation with NASA during its hey days. Sad to see it in its current state.

We have Oceans to explore & forrests & they are more accessible & probably offer many "cures" to what ails us & the enviornment.
