This from the POPE board:

The government doesn't know HOW much money it will take in until their fiscal year ends. So there is NO way to spend less than they take in.

Sorry but that is BS. They can guess-at-mate it and be close.

Sure we hear of some "special" medical cases where the doctors & communities help, but they are rare.

Not really. Americans have always be ready to help out those who are truly in need. That is what families are for. That is why my mother’s mother lived with us for years.

For regular folks dealing with cancer, heart disease, etc, the costs can bankrupt them, especially if they have lost their job, & health insurance.

Stuff happens.

Many people work mulitple jobs (when they can) to support their families, the majority want to work, there are always some dead beats.

And way too many are not willing to work when they can get “Free” money. As for the majority, I have to wonder. Too many will not work because their unemployment check is as big or bigger than they would make actually working. Americans are becoming so much of an entitlement society that they think they are “owed” a living. I worked all my life including working two jobs for awhile. But then one of my first jobs was an average of 70 hours a week with NO overtime. It was just part of the job.

People PAY into SS & Medicare all of their lives, so its not a handout, its EARNED.

Excuse me but you DO NOT pay into Medicare. As for Social Security, I never expected to see a penny of it and planned my life around not getting it. It has been going broke for years.
I admit I was thinking about Medicade rather than Medicare but Medicare payments were taken from SS payments. That is another reason SS is going broke. Money was taken from SS payments to fund Medicare. SS droped from 7.5% to 6.2% and 1.3% became Medicare payments as I recall.

Why are Mega companies taking subsidies???

Because they are being bought off by the government.

That's Corporate WELFARE in the BILLIONS!

Companies DO NOT PAY TAXES. They collect the money from you and me and pass it on to the government. Up the taxes on the oil companies and watch the price of gas rise at the pump. That is how capitalism works. And it beats the heck out of socialism. Just look at Europe.

And stop pissing away trillions on "wars"... Clo

Wars are for the protection of the homeland. Were you happy to see the Twin Towers fall?

When will people ever learn that businesses do not pay taxes? ALL businesses pass along taxes to their customers. If the taxes rise so high that the customers stop buying the business closes its doors and fires all its employees. The government can only hand out other peoples money for so long and then the money drys up.

"The Partnership for New York City, a group of 200 CEOs, has noted that between "1998 and 2008, a net total of more than 1.7 million New Yorkers chose to relocate, taking with them their wealth and talent" to "places where the tax burden is less."

Lest anyone thinks this group's findings are isolated or hopelessly biased, consider this from a 2010 American Legislative Exchange Council report:

"Over the past 25 years, tens of millions of Americans have voted with their feet against anti-growth policies," relocating in tax-friendlier states.

Lawmakers who ignore the past will soon find out that they have run out of other people's money."

I remember years ago when taxes went through the roof, the folks with money left the country. That was when companies started building factories in Mexico. "How quickly we forget".
