*grin* If this is 'Stockholm Syndrome,' then I think most AtomicBob's users have it as well! All those here who, in the past, have said that they agree that the debt is a huge problem but who think some intelligent person SOMEWHERE is going to come up with a solution . . . would seem to be suffering from it.

Some of you may remember that I've said on more than one occasion that 'God is not looking out for us.' Or that Americans 'are not God's chosen people.' Those are different ways of referencing the same phenomenon . . . that of people who SEE the financial bind the U.S. is in, understand its significance, cannot think of any solution, understand that no one else has been able to think of one either, but still decline to act - assuming that things will just work out. "Like they always have."

That's pretty naive since things HAVEN'T always worked out. There are lots of dead people who can't very well attest to that, but their deadness makes its own statement.

So, I've had my way of alluding to the same thing, but I really like this new analogy. "Stockholm Syndrome" has something going for it that "God's chosen people" does not. Namely, that it is widely recognized as affecting HOSTAGES. Yeah, I can see a lot of validity in that.

Ted Butler Has Stockholm Syndrome Plus Great Remarks From John Williams

Ted Butler's undying faith in the CFTC and Gary Gensler never ceases to amaze me. His analytic work on the silver market and the COT reports is brilliant. And yet, his ability to discern and detect the truth about what is going in our system with regard to regulation of the securities markets borders on complete ignorance. I give him the benefit of doubt on that and prefer to believe that he is hopelessly full of hope and tragically naive. On the the other hand, he may suffer from what is known as Stockholm Syndrome. Here is a great description of the psychological phenomenon from wikipedia:

In psychology, Stockholm syndrome is a term used to describe a paradoxical psychological phenomenon wherein hostages express empathy and have positive feelings towards their captors. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors as an act of kindness.[1][2] The FBI’s Hostage Barricade Database System shows that roughly 27% of victims show evidence of Stockholm syndrome.
