re: "To date even Republicans aren't excited about ANY candidates."

That's understandable. Of course, I could counter your statement by noting that even the day Obummer won the Democratic nomination, vast numbers of Democrats were unenthused about him. You were one of them, weren't you?

Ditto for Americans in general on election day, 2008. They still voted for the man.

In the two elections before that, no one was enthusiastic about GWB. But they still managed to prefer him over either Gore or Kerry, didn't they? I think that's pretty good evidence that your point isn't relevant, clo. Or, at least, the point I'm understanding (which may not be the point you're trying to make, so please clarify it if I'm misunderstanding you) isn't relevant.

It is usually the case with an incumbent that the election result is in his hands. Not the challenger. It's always the incumbent's election to lose . . . and I think that's just what the current President is going to do.

It's the economy. The economy. The economy. And the economy is a lot like the TITANIC. It's huge. It doesn't turn around on a dime. And when it's got a serious breach, the outcome is predictable and inevitable. Obummer might bring out the band and get a whole lot of doomed people to singing along, but the operative word here is "doomed." Singing and hoping and even PRAYING, for those of you with a religious bent, won't change the result.

I don't think that this economy will remain afloat for another 18 months. It doesn't have the legs for it.

People will ultimately vote their wallets. That's only what I think, of course, and like everyone else, I'm often wrong. Obama could still win. Today's Americans are, as I just finished posting, basically unthinking, indecent people. Obama has a lot in common with them. That COULD be enough to swing the election.

But I doubt it. History is on my side, and when it comes to voting, hunger usually trumps logic... sentiment... and 'most everything else. The number of people who really hurting has increased dramatically. For Obama to have a prayer against any Republican, things will have to turn around in a big way pretty darned soon.

Unfortunately, the turnaround I'm seeing is for the worse. Read today's stories, posted here, about the housing sector. And you'll notice that the prices of gold, silver, oil, and other commodities are, once again, soaring.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Gingrich with three marriages & served one wife divorce papers while in the hospital with cancer, will NEVER get the support from the religious right & those are the Republican primary voters needed.

Maybe Huntsman will light a spark?
Though he is also a Morman & worked for Obama, might not be helpful.

To date even Republicans aren't excited about ANY candidates. John Boehner didn't even watch the first debate. clo
