Welcome back!

What, no slots in the rooms? If I'm working Reno/Tahoe, I'd generally go out one night to play the odds, but generally the lesson is learned fairly quick, painless... But, many good restaurants in the area, the locals know better as well... Keeps a lot of folks employed, from bouncers to babes... All part of the NV game plan... We didn't even stop in Laughlin the last trip tot he SW, but we did spend a few days in and around Vegas. If you wanted, there are a lot of empty housing areas to check out... The whole infrastructure was booming in the late 90's, we added tons of wireless, switching gear in the area... Mostly idle today...

CC companies have to be feeling the pinch, think they changed their evil ways?

I arrived home from my week in Las Vegas safe and sound. We stopped at Hoover Dam on the way back to get pictures of the bridge now that it's finished. You're allowed to walk across the bridge as it's a spectacular view of the Dam. We then drove across the Dam to get some pictures of bridge itself. The water is still way down on Lake Meade, at least 30-40 feet below the highwater marks on the canyon walls.

BTW, I did not spend a single dime gambling. The conference was at the Rio Hotel and I walked around the casino floor just one time and lowest Blackjack Table was $25 minimum. And the tables were at least half full, so it didn't look like much of a recession there.

And here's something unusual. As I was going through my mail tonight I opened the Discover Card statement and there was only one charge last month, $2.00 at a parking garage in Santa Monica (you had to pay for your parking using a credit card at a kiosk by the elevators on your way out). Anyway, I used my Discover Card since they didn't take AMEX. As I said, when I opened the bill there was ONLY that single $2.00 charge but the balance owed was $0.00. What they had done was given me a 'Small Balance Credit' of $2.00. I guess they figured it was cheaper to give me a $2.00 credit than it would have been to process my check. Anyway, this is something that I have never seen before.
